Grade for Great Zimbabwe Empire: B

The kingdom of Zimbabwe receives a B overall. The kingdom was largely involved in trade and benefited from this involvement. The kingdom also was unified through worship of Mwari and in the administrative construction of the Great Enclosure. The Zimbabweans managed their cattle, mined iron and gold and copper, and had eight soapstone birds as a declaration of artistic culture. Some downfalls are the separation between royals and commoners through the Great Enclosure's walls, and some of the techniques used in the empire were adopted from other tribal communities. In 1890, the area of the kingdom was conquered by Cecil Rhodes and there were less freedoms for the Zimbabweans.
